Thank you Mr Maude.

The GSCC never fail to amaze Wilt – they are such fucking idiots. When Wilt was a senior manager he infrequently had among his responsibilities to process police checks on staff, foster carers, child minders etc., etc – this was pre the Criminal Records Bureau set-up.

Wilt saw some criminal records which sent shivers down his back and made his hair stand on end, whereas for the most part people either had no criminal records or had one or possibly several minor convictions, perhaps from some years previously and possibly at a young age or as a juvenile.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

It is possibly not a well known fact but something like one in three people in the UK have a criminal offence of some kind recorded against them. In addition there is ‘soft intelligence’ the police can disclose and do disclose regarding investigations against suspects who have been investigated (and usually also arrested) with other agencies – not sadly in the case of Soham.

Mrs Calleja might rejoice however that her arrest for suspected harassment will be subject to such ‘soft intelligence’ reporting. Oooooops! Anyway the fact of the arrest is permanently recorded here, and elsewhere on the web.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt would make an assessment of the relevance of the conviction and advise for the most part that a person (whether staff member or carer) was safe to engage in their applicable role.  There were on occasions when Wilt felt, ‘there but for the grace of God’ when he reflected on his own youthful antics.

Now Dhillon-Powell, a Birmingham social worker, may not be a spring chicken but did Miriam deserve to be admonished for five years?

See the Community Care article here: http://www.communitycare.co.uk/Articles/2011/06/23/117064/gscc-admonishes-social-worker-over-15-tk-maxx-offence.htm

Wilt observes:

  • What possible concern does this have for the GSCC; the issue was dealt with by her employer, the police etc.;
  • Is an attempted theft of £15 so serious;
  • Who gives a fuck;
  • What have the GSCC learned about proportionality;
Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Fucking unbelievable – if this woman does not appeal she needs a brain cell count.

Wilt is, well just flabbergasted – what is wrong with these fools at the GSCC? Any Court, and we mean any Court, in the land that took such a draconian approach would be laughable. NO Court would even go anywhere near that kind of disposal.

It simply reminds Wilt why Regulator Watch needs to exist – because there are utter fucking twats at the GSCC who know nothing about social work/social care or indeed about social justice and proportionality – this woman’s greatest sin was probably shopping at T.K. Maxx at all – not that Wilt would be seen dead in its store.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt’s heart sinks, it really does – will these fools at the GSCC never, ever lean?

You might be forgiven for thinking that Wilt had disappeared – but no, it was his internet connection that vanished. This is rather unusual for his normally very fast and reliable ISP. He could not be arsed to power up his laptop and use the satellite dongle to get a connection – he was still getting email on his BlackBerry and kept in touch that way.

Anyway, the Wilt is back – for now at least.

Good Tradition

Whilst on the theme of pensions there is apparently a rebellion among the coalition ranks: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13821169 This relates to the retirement of women from 60 to 65 years – what is the problem? Wilt wants to be kept in the style to which he is accustomed and Mrs Wilt working to 65 will assure that.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt will happily become a semi-retired house husband spending frequent long weekends in North Wales with Salty Dog whilst drawing down his deferred local authority pension (investing the massive lump sum), plus his state pension & private pension and waving off Mrs Wilt to work. With the mortgage paid off by Wilt’s retirement date he will have no serious financial concerns and besides he has sufficient investments to cover any contingency – that comes of planning ahead and not squandering any surplus funds. £25000.00 a year seems adequate.

Women live longer – so they should work at least the same number of years as men before claiming their state pension, we think.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Mind you, Wilt’s brother and brother in law, now both retired, are more busy than ever, as are his retired drinking mates. The grey haired volunteers still work hard, but for free. A good tradition we think.

No Pain No Gain

Ed ‘Damien’ Balls is at it again – http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-13826271 We think this is called distraction politics – distraction that is from other stories about him.

What Balls and most commentators fail to mention was that it was not the red haired Scotsman that pre-empted further discussions with the unions but in fact the unions who decided on a whim to call a strike – and why? Now Wilt is not a huge fan of Nick Robinson of the BBC (Guido derides him all the time) but he does have connections and can give not unreasoned analysis or comment as here:   http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-13809285

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Me thinks union members need to be a little more cautious about being taken in by the rhetoric of their highly paid leaders. What may lay behind some government thinking is the aim to curb union powers and enforce a new law whereby no strike can take place without more than 40% of union members approve it. Presently the threshold is based on the numbers that vote.

Arrogant Fool

Wilt portfolio

The person Wilt most likes to deride (even above Calleja and Plaskitt and Brown) is a certain Mr Ed Balls – you know that evil looking and acting bastard the shadow chancellor. For some time Guido Fawkes has been monitoring a legal dispute between Balls and his former landlord that rented him an office.

Thanks to Guido it can be reported: http://order-order.com/2011/06/17/breaking-balls-loses-bad-debt-case-2/ that Balls has to pay up. What a fucking dickhead – and the other Ed thinks he can be a chancellor of the exchequer in waiting?

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Neither Ed’s are having a good time of late – they only have themselves to blame.

What an arrogant fool.

Very Sound

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

This article is interesting in its own right: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/twitter/8583179/Husband-cleared-of-harassing-wifes-lover-on-Twitter.html but it of course has a particular significance to us bloggers and it should in particular be noted by Elizabeth Calleja of Leamington Spa who promulgates all free speech is restricted to that which she approves.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Freedom of speech is a right – telling lies, misinformation campaigns and outright fraud is not however permissible; take note Elizabeth Calleja of Leamington Spa. Freedom of opinion or expression is however, by this judgement, a right provided that the alleged ‘harassment’ is based on facts, is truthful and not intended to cause harm; simply being embarrassed by facts or opinions or expression of views does not cause harassment, nor necessarily defamation.

This judgement was sound, very sound and to this blogger at least, a bastion to profile the likes of Calleja as a public concern, in the public interest.

We reflect, it was of course Calleja who was ARRESTED over an allegation of HARASSMENT and not her alleged so called victimisers. It was she that stood before the custody sergeant accused and arrested for harassment that had to sign her bail conditions. She was on bail for three months before release.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Think on Elizabeth before you go on another vexatious campaign.

Even better, get a life for Gawd’s sake – accessing Regulator Watch 5 times daily is not healthy for you, really.

Oh dear, what a sad git: http://www.communitycare.co.uk/Articles/2011/06/17/117032/social-work-lecturer-struck-off-over-child-porn-images.htm

Not a lot to say other than some pervert was not quite suitable as a social work teacher – oh and on this one at least it seems the GSC may have got it right, for once.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Meanwhile, in another matter this social worker was much worse for wear: http://www.communitycare.co.uk/Articles/2011/06/17/117037/social-worker-struck-off-over-alcohol-use.htm on days gone by – was it necessary to remove her from the Register – perhaps an admonishment or suspension was more appropriate?

Discuss – that is the essay for the day.

What a Shame

17-06-11

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

What is the problem with these changes to public sector pensions? The BBC article here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-13800573 is informative.  For example:

‘All pension benefits that were earned before any reforms are introduced – including retirement ages and final salary benefits – will be protected, the government insists.’

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

However all current members of the various schemes will need to make increased contributions from a certain date. All that seems fine to Wilt, albeit it is in addition to public sector pay freezes and in some cases, as Salopian points out http://regulatorwatch.co.uk/2011/06/a-shropshire-lad/ , actual pay cuts. A message from Salopian to Wilt confirms that the pay cut and reduction in service conditions have now been approved by Shropshire County Council and will take effect from later this month, with or without the consent of the workforce. If necessary, that local authority will sack everyone and then re-employ them on new contracts – or of course individual workers can decline their new contract.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt can only dream that his local council would be prepared to do the same.

Times are hard – even for Wilt. Wilt however does have in addition his overseas contracts and he can fall back on those assets which he squirreled away for a rainy day – it is a shame that Brown, Balls and Milliband had not done so too rather than plough ‘funny money’ into the public sector.

Somehow Wilt finds it hard to believe that ‘Nokia’ Brown will not be becoming the next IMF representative.

What a shame.

Disaster

17-06-11

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

PMQ’s this week was an utter disaster for Milliband – he is really not having a good time of late, is he? Not that he was ever or will be up to the job of leader of the official opposition.

And of course the Ed Balls papers and the revelations contained therein have completely scuppered his prospects of taking over. A mate of Wilt’s who is an avid labourite (a former general election candidate) who Wilt loves to wind up down at the pub, stated that Balls was never in contention anyway.

Wilt Portfolio

Wilt Portfolio

However, Guido Fawkes has again unearthed a little snippet of information here about the other Ed’s very poor performance at PMQ’s, here:  http://order-order.com/2011/06/15/labour-cancer-stitch-up-unravels/

There is more effective opposition from the Lib Dems – now who would have guessed that?
