Back……

02-12-09

You go away for a few days and it all happens. Back to the grind – but the Salty Dog still has a hang-over. Not me though.

So the final report of the Social Work Taskforce has been published as reported in Community Care (among other reporters). See here:

http://www.communitycare.co.uk/Articles/2009/12/01/113307/ministers-back-taskforce-plan-to-overhaul-social-work.htm

and http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2009/dec/01/social-work-reform in the Guardian.

Not only that but those lovely people at Ofsted are in the shit for destroying evidence in the Sharon Shoesmith case, as reported here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8389714.stm

And here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8389714.stm

Meanwhile the GSCC get a bit of a battering from the Telegraph, here:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/6678045/Paedophiles-continued-as-social-workers-because-of-watchdog-failings.html

However, even Wilt thinks that article a bit misleading, as much as he loves the Telegraph and as much he he regards the GSCC with contempt.

All this is too much to take in – much study is required of the Taskforce report, which can be found here: http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/swtf/ and click on Final Report.

Anyway, further news of a Sharon Shoesmith type case is outlined in my email and also needs a bit of investigating.

What interesting times!

Oh, and Ofsted and various Government Departments have been all over Regulator Watch like a rash, combing its various entries. Someone is telling tales about Wilt, we think. Do we care – nope?
