Varley could not be so wrong.

First it is not mandatory to register – Wilt is not registered nor are thousands of others who are qualified but do not call themselves ‘social workers.’ Children’s Guardians’ may be registered, some are not like a host of Ofsted inspectors, a bit like Directors of social services and probation officers who have (or had) essentially the same qualifications as social workers.

Second, there are organisations representing and regulating other professions, quite successfully thank you. A College of Social Work could do that very successfully. Promoting social work and upholding standards are not incompatible – indeed it seems to me to be clearly connected.

Varley speaks of the GSCC commanding respect being her defining aim of her leadership and the core business of the regulator.

Well, Rosie, you failed – twat.

You and your service deserve no respect, have no respect from the workforce, from Parliament or anywhere else I can see. Have you ever thought of taking up needlework, full time? If not, perhaps knitting or dog grooming? Possibly a round the world solo sailing trip on a less than seaworthy boat? How about just pissing off? Dork.

You talk utter bollocks. Twat.
